Volunteers Needed For Upcoming & Ongoing Pro Bono Opportunities

PILI provides a variety of pro bono opportunities for lawyers, law students and legal professionals across the state of Illinois. We are in need of volunteers for several upcoming and ongoing pro bono opportunities detailed below.

Illinois Free Legal Answers

Illinois Free Legal Answers is a secure website where low-income Illinoisans can ask a lawyer for help with a civil legal issue. Volunteer lawyers then log onto the site at their convenience and answer questions waiting in the queue. It is a virtual walk-in legal clinic. Even one answer can make a difference! Learn more »

Self-Represented Litigant Help Desks

At these help desks, volunteer attorneys meet with self-represented litigants for 30-minute appointments to help them understand and navigate the legal process, fill out forms and answer questions.

Conflict of Interest Pro Bono Referral Panels

PILI receives referrals from Prairie State Legal Services and Land of Lincoln Legal Aid in select counties where a client is denied services due to the existence of a conflict of interest. PILI then tries to assist that client by connecting them with a local pro bono attorney to provide some level of pro bono assistance from brief advice to full representation. Learn more »

It is a network comprised of legal aid organizations and law school clinics across Illinois.
