As part of National Volunteer Month, we want to express our gratitude to the many volunteers who help make equal access to justice a reality in Illinois!
At its recent 50th Anniversary celebration in Champaign, Land of Lincoln Legal Aid presented PILI’s Executive Director with its the Russell K. Scott Equal Justice Award for his outstanding leadership in promoting and supporting legal aid and expanding and improving access to justice for low-income people.
In 2021, PILI had 235 attendees at its Virtual Pro Bono CLE Series offered to pro bono volunteers across the state and over seven sessions.
PILI provides a variety of pro bono opportunities for lawyers, law students and legal professionals across the state of Illinois. As we kick of 2022, we are spotlighting of few of these opportunities for which we are actively seeking pro bono volunteers at this time in the Third, Sixth & Tenth Judicial Circuits.
PILI has established several new working groups to advance its efforts through its eleven Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committees around the state.
On December 10th, during the Illinois Judges Association (IJA) Annual Awards & 50th Anniversary Celebration, PILI received the IJA’s Amicus Award.
PILI’s 2021 Annual Awards Luncheon was held on Wednesday, December 1st and brought together the Illinois legal community both in person and virtually to celebrate the very best aspects of the legal profession.
During the week of October 24th to 30th, PILI participated in the national celebration of Pro Bono Week. Celebrated annually and organized nationally by the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service, Pro Bono Week is intended to inspire even greater pro bono participation by lawyers throughout the nation.
