In celebration of Law Day, PILI hosted several Legal Answers Pro Bono Clinics to train lawyers on how to answer civil legal questions posted on Illinois Legal Aid Online’s Legal Answers website.
On April 24th, representatives from Illinois corporate legal departments met at the offices of Hinshaw & Culbertson for PILI’s annual Corporate Pro Bono Roundtable. This year, the group discussed getting buy-in and resources from their companies to increase the impact of pro bono programs.
On April 8th, PILI hosted the first Legal Help Within Reach Clinic in Sterling, Illinois. Making the Most of the Intern and Fellow Experience: Highlights from the 2019 Legal Service Agency Roundtable
On March 13th, representatives from Illinois public interest law agencies met at the offices of Katten Muchin Rosenman for PILI’s annual Legal Service Agency Roundtable.
This help desk is a project of the Public Interest Law Initiative’s Sixth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee and is funded in part by the Illinois Equal Justice Foundation.
On February 13th, representatives from Illinois law firms met at the offices of Baker McKenzie for PILI’s Law Firm Pro Bono Roundtable where they discussed ways to encourage pro bono volunteerism throughout their firms. Topics included harnessing momentum for pro bono, onboarding for pro bono, making the case for pro bono to partners, and exploring innovative pro bono models.

Pro Bono Week 2018 was October 21st to October 27th this year and PILI celebrated with 11 events, 400 attendees, over a dozen awards and several pro bono opportunities!
PILI recently received grants from the Retirement Research Foundation and the DuPage Bar Foundation for which we are extremely grateful.
Volunteers from Kirkland & Ellis and United Airlines volunteered at the Legal Prep Community Law Clinic in November and assisted clients with legal issues such as divorce and medicare determinations.
