At the start of our new fiscal year on September 1st, PILI named new leadership to our Alumni Network Leadership Council. Jordan Heinz of Kirkland & Ellis LLP is the new Chair and Charles Golbert of the Office of the Cook County Public Guardian will serve as the new Vice Chair.
PILI is grateful to Kate Pomper Costello, who has served as the Alumni Council Chair for the last year. During her tenure as Chair, the PILI Alumni Network hosted a fundraiser that raised more money for the Alumni Named Internship Campaign than any other Alumni event in PILI’s history. The Council also launched the Alumni Class Representatives program this year, and completed the first full year of the Legal Prep Community Law Clinic, through which Alumni provide free legal assistance to low-income individuals on a monthly basis. Kate will stay on the Council as Immediate Past Chair and Liaison to the Board of Directors’ Internship, Fellowship & Alumni Programs Committee.
Rejoining the Council this fiscal year is Dave Scriven-Young of Peckar & Abramson, P.C. who spent the last two years serving as a Chicago Bar Association Board of Managers appointee on PILI’s Board of Directors. He will now serve as the Liaison to PILI’s Board of Directors. Martin Cozzola of Chicago Volunteer Legal Services and Militza Pagan of Chicago-Kent College of Law have also joined the Council as of September 1st.
