PILI Elects New Board Member, Vera A. Nackovic

Vera NackovicPILI has elected Vera A. Nackovic, a partner at Mayer Brown, to serve on its Board of Directors. An Alumna of PILI’s Graduate Fellowship Program, Vera has maintained a strong and active pro bono practice as a registered patent attorney.

After clerking for the Honorable Kenneth Ripple of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in 2002, Vera graduated from Valparaiso University School of Law in 2003. She then worked as a PILI Graduate Fellow at Access Living before beginning her job at Mayer Brown, where she has been a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice since 2011. She uses her experience in her active pro bono practice, assisting nonprofits and artists with intellectual property, patent and corporate matters.

When asked about her election to PILI’s Board, Vera explained, “I am honored and humbled to be selected as a Board Member of this great organization.  My time as a PILI Graduate Fellow was among my most rewarding legal experiences, and I look forward to building on that strong foundation to positively impact the greater legal community.”

Vera is taking the place of Ricky Rems, who has served as the Chair of PILI’s Marketing and Communications Committee since 2011. PILI is grateful for his years of service. PILI’s Board of Directors is currently led by President Richard O’Malley, Jr. of Sidley Austin LLP, and by Vice President Brad Lane of Brinks Gilson & Lione.
