PILI is extremely grateful to the Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago (LAGBAC) Foundation for new funding that will allow PILI to open three new summer Internship allocations in Summer 2019. These positions will be at Legal Council for Health Justice, Howard Brown Health and Chicago House. Howard Brown Health and Chicago House are new Participating Agencies for PILI and all three agencies work with the LGBTQ community and people living with HIV/AIDS.
This grant is in addition to the two already existing LAGBAC Named School-Year Internships, one in the fall and one in the spring, both of which are at the National Immigrant Justice Center in their LGBT Immigrant Rights Initiative.
PILI Executive Director Michael Bergmann said “We are thrilled to expand our partnership with the LAGBAC Foundation to increase legal assistance available to the LGBTQ community. And, we are excited to welcome two new agencies into our Internship Program thanks to this generous funding.”
The LAGBAC Foundation’s mission is to improve access to the legal and judicial system for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, intersexed and questioning persons by giving law students the opportunity to learn valuable, practical legal skills while giving back to our community.
