PILI Receives Renewed Support from Several Foundations

PILI has recently received renewed funding from several funders. We are so grateful for their continued support of PILI’s mission to engage, inspire and empower those advancing equal access to justice.

Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts

PILI is thankful to the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts for their renewed support of $20,000. This grant will support outreach to courts across the state to increase awareness and use of Illinois Free Legal Answers and Illinois Free Legal Answers for Civil Appeals. Illinois Free Legal Answers for Civil Appeals is a virtual legal advice clinic for legal issues where low-income Illinoisans who are self-represented can submit a question about their civil appeal. This program is the only appellate-specific help desk in Illinois to assist self-represented litigants with their civil appeal.

Chicago Bar Foundation

PILI is grateful to the Chicago Bar Foundation for their grant of $28,600 to fund two school-year and three summer Internship stipends as well as related program costs for each Intern. The Chicago Bar Foundation brings the legal community together to improve access to justice for people in need and make the legal system more fair and efficient for everyone. The CBF has been a longtime supporter of PILI’s Law Student Internship Program.

Helen Brach Foundation

PILI is excited to announce that the Helen Brach Foundation has renewed their grant of $15,000 for 2025. PILI is grateful to the Helen Brach Foundation for this and its longstanding support of PILI’s Law Student Internship Program, with a particular focus on issues related to children and people with disabilities.

Illinois Bar Foundation

The Illinois Bar Foundation (IBF) is a longtime supporter of PILI and its statewide work through our Pro Bono Program. PILI is grateful to the Illinois Bar Foundation for their increased support in the amount of $20,000. We share the IBF’s mission to enhance the availability of justice for those without attorneys, and through these programs we work to promote pro bono throughout the state.

Thank you to these and all of our supporters!
