Where Do We Stand? Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Efforts in 2024

In the past year, Florida and Texas have passed “anti-DEI” legislation that has resulted in state universities terminating faculty and shuttering entire departments that work with underrepresented populations. This is in addition to the recent US Supreme Court decision in Students for Fair Admissions v. President and Fellows of Harvard College holding that Harvard’s admissions system does not comply with the principles of the equal protection clause embodied in Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. A panel of DEI professionals will share their experience working in this space, why there seems to be increasing backlash, and what the future may hold for DEI programs.
