Transportation Options
Buses & Trains
The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) operates the nation’s second largest public transportation system. On an average weekday, 1.7 million rides are taken on CTA.
Regular bus fares are $2.25 if you have a CTA card, or $2.50 if paying by cash. Bus drivers do not have change. Train fares are $2.50 and you cannot pay with cash. You can use mobile pay such as Apple Pay or Google Pay to access the CTA. CTA Ventra cards can be purchased at hundreds of retail locations across the city and can be reloaded at CTA stations. Daily, weekly and monthly passes are also available.

Student Discounts
Receiving your discounts is easy, and most vendors just need to see your school ID card or offer an online coupon code. However, be sure to read each discount carefully, as they may not apply to everyone or have specific requirements.

- FedEx: Up to 30% off select shipping and packing services with a valid student ID

- AMC Movie Theaters, student prices on Thursdays
- Art Institute of Chicago, $26 student ticket
- Chicago Symphony Orchestra, student pricing during concert season
- Goldstar, discounted tickets available to everyone for Chicago shows
- Goodman Theatre,$10 day-of tickets to Albert Theatre productions and advance tickets to Owen Theatre productions are available for current college students.
- HotTix, ½ price theater tickets to a number of Chicago Theaters
- Peggy Notebart Nature Museum, student price is $10
- Regal City North Stadium in Logan Square, half price Tuesdays for loyalty members
- Steppenwolf Theater, offers $15 student tickets and ½ price student subscriptions
- Spotify, 50% off a premium membership for students
- Peacock: Peacock Premium for $1.99 a month
- Hulu: Hulu with ads for $1.99 per month
- Spotify: Spotify Premium for $5.99 per month, which includes three months free and access to Hulu (with ads)
