Intern Advising Program

Reception Ladies

As a PILI Law Student Intern, you can opt to be placed with an advisor from PILI's Board of Directors or Alumni Network for career guidance, networking inroads, and a personal introduction to the Illinois legal community. This is a great opportunity to get connected and start building a strong professional network from the beginning of your legal career.  Advising matches are made based on shared interests, experiences, and background.

Feedback from Recent Interns on the Advising Program

“My main goal was to express my career thoughts and have someone not already in my network provide candid advice for me. This was definitely achieved and I really enjoyed getting to know my advisor.”

“My advisor (a government attorney and member of PILI’s Board of Directors) did a fantastic job helping me learn more about post-grad opportunities in Chicago. He connected me with multiple people and was a great resource/mentor, and we had quite a lot in common which helped.”

“What I found most beneficial about the Advising Program was how not intimidating it was. I feel like a lot of times, at least for me, networking is quite a hurdle. However, my advisor was very welcoming!”

“I wasn't sure what to expect but I thought there was no harm in doing some extra networking. It turned out to be a wonderful experience and I have found my conversations with my advisor to be incredibly encouraging and I have greatly appreciated learning from her experience.”
