Fellow Advising Program

As a PILI Fellow, you can opt to be placed with an advisor from PILI's Board of Directors or Alumni Network for career guidance, networking inroads and a personal introduction to the Illinois legal community. This is a great opportunity to get connected and start building a strong professional network from the very beginning of your legal career. Advising matches are made based on shared interests, experiences and background.

Feedback from Recent Fellows on the Advising Program

“My goal was to grow my legal professional network, and to meet an established attorney who has successfully pursued a career in public interest law. I met with my advisor (a judge) and my goals were met. I found it very valuable to hear about her path to the bench.”

“It was great to have an advisor and nice to make a connection in the Chicago community with a like-minded attorney. I wanted to start building a network in Chicago and to have someone who wasn't my classmates or my supervising attorney to discuss bar anxiety with. We got coffee and it was a great time!”

“My main goal was meeting a lawyer with an established career and discussing potential career paths, as well as how legal aid can be incorporated into it. My advisor from PILI’s Board of Directors was kind and helpful; I achieved the goal.”
