Through the Illinois Forum on Pro Bono, the Tenth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee brought together a cross-section of pro bono stakeholders from our legal community to discuss timely pro bono issues and share pro bono best practices.
The theme for the panel discussion was “The Future of Pro Bono & How You Can Help” and it provided an overview of the need for pro bono legal services, efforts to increase pro bono in the Tenth Judicial Circuit, and recent statewide efforts to increase access to justice. The discussion detailed specific aspects of the Illinois Supreme Court Rules of Professional Conduct relating to pro bono and access to justice. The panel also explained the pro bono landscape in the Tenth Judicial Circuit and how attendees can get involved whether you are a solo practitioner or firm attorney, in-house counsel, or corporate or government attorney. Following the panel discussion, attendees will participate in small group discussions focused on identifying barriers and obstacles to pro bono, sharing best practices, and developing strategies to enhance and expand pro bono. This event is sponsored by the Peoria County Bar Association, Prairie State Legal Services, and the Public Interest Law Initiative.
