PILI’s Legal Help Within Reach Program along with the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee and Prairie State Legal Services will be holding an Expungement Clinic that will provide free legal assistance to individuals in Henry, Mercer, Rock Island and Whiteside Counties seeking to clear their criminal record. Volunteers will consult with participants on available options for relief, prepare petitions to expunge and/or seal eligible records, and provide guidance on navigating the process from start to finish. The Expungement Clinic is being handled on a virtual/remote basis.
Volunteer lawyers are required to attend a training session in order to volunteer, unless they handle expungement matters on a regular basis in their practice, or have attended a similar training session recently. Volunteer lawyers are invited to attend a virtual training session on February 25, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. To learn more about the training session, please visit the event page. A recording will be available for volunteers who cannot attend the live training.
If you would like to attend the training and provide remote/virtual assistance through this clinic, please fill out this form by March 1, 2021. If you have questions about the clinic or training session, please contact PILI Managing Attorney Jessica Schneider.
