East St. Louis Wills & POA Clinic – Volunteers Needed

PILI and Land of Lincoln Legal Aid are hosting this clinic to assist low-income residents in the East St. Louis area with Wills and Powers of Attorney. PILI is seeking attorney and non-attorney volunteers to prepare documents leading up to the clinic and then counsel clients on the day of the clinic.

Training Details

Date: September 13
Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Location: 8787 State Street, Suite 101 in East St. Louis

CLE credit provided for training, including PR credit (anticipated, pending approval) for cultural competency component.

Clinic Details

Date: October 11
Time: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Location: Family and Community Engagement Center, 401 Katherine Dunham Place in East St. Louis

On the clinic date, attorney volunteers will meet with clients to review and explain the prepared documents and execute final signing and notarization. Document templates will be provided, but attorneys that regularly work in this field may use their own forms if they prefer. A free training (with CLE credit) will be provided, but attorneys with experience in this area of law are not required to attend the training in order to participate in the clinic.
