North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic

North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic (“NSLAC”) provides accessible, quality free civil legal services to low-income and at-risk families in Lake County and north suburban Cook County. We provide legal services to those in need in the areas of immigration, housing, and domestic violence.

NSLAC work will provide a PILI Fellow with a broad range of opportunities to enhance their lawyering skills. The PILI Fellow will work in at least one of the NSLAC’s practice areas, depending on preference, background and need, and will be supervised by experienced Clinic staff. They may work on obtaining orders of protection, preventing evictions, or on immigration matters, including family-based petitions, preparing asylum cases, or U-visa petitions.

NSLAC is a young and dynamically growing organization with a collaborative and collegial staff working in a flexible hybrid format (home/office). The goal is to provide the Fellow with hands-on experience in working with clients (interviewing, counseling, case planning), negotiating with opposing parties, and learning all the inside-outs of the court proceedings. Working directly with our experienced attorneys, the Fellow will gain practical insights and receive constructive feedback.

North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic is approved to host PILI Graduate Fellows.
