The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF) is a national Latino civil rights advocacy organization dedicated to preserving and expanding civil rights of Latinos in the areas of immigrant rights, education, political access, and employment.
PILI Fellows & Interns will work on high impact matters concerning immigrant rights, education, political access, and employment. MALDEF deals with cases which have the greatest impact on the Latino community.
PILI Fellows & Interns will get experience researching and analyzing constitutional and statutory claims at both the federal and state levels in pending and potential high impact cases, developing strategies for successful litigation, and when needed contacting clients and preparing pleadings. PILI Fellows and Interns may also provide support on regional legislation and public policy initiatives in the same substantive areas.
Applicants note: Spanish-speaking ability or knowledge of the Spanish language is NOT required.
This agency is approved to host a Law Student Intern during the spring semester and during the summer. They are also approved to host Graduate Fellows.
