In its Eastern Regional Office, located in Champaign, Land of Lincoln Legal Aid’s lawyers provide a full range of civil legal assistance to low-income residents of 15 counties in central Illinois, including providing advice and counsel, litigation, and community education.
Land of Lincoln’s wide range of services and projects provide the opportunity to match the interest of a PILI Intern with a particular office or area of the law. Types of cases include those involving consumer issues, public benefits, housing issues, rights of the homeless, family law, domestic violence, education, and senior legal services. Duties include legal and policy research, drafting pleadings and legal memoranda, negotiating settlements and handling court appearances pursuant to Illinois Supreme Court Rule 711, when applicable.
This agency is approved to host a Law Student Intern during the summer in Champaign as well as Alton, Carbondale and East St. Louis. They are also approved to host Graduate Fellows.
