Lambda Legal

Lambda Legal is a national organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil right of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender people and those living with HIV, through impact litigation, education, and public policy work. Founded in 1973 and headquartered in New York City, Lambda Legal has regional offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Washington D.C., and Dallas. Lambda Legal’s docket consists of test cases in a wide range of areas, including federal and state constitutional law such as first amendment and equal protection challenges; discrimination in employment rights, benefits, housing, insurance, schools, and other areas; prevention of anti-LGBTQ harassment and violence; anti-LGBTQ ballot initiatives; access to healthcare and HIV-related treatments; and criminalization of the communities that we serve. The Midwest Regional Office has three attorneys. Fellows and interns work closely with the staff on developing and litigating matters.

This agency is approved to host a Law Student Intern during the summer. They are also approved to host Graduate Fellows.
