July 2015 PILI Spotlights

We can't believe we're already halfway through the summer! As our Interns and Fellows start to think about what's next, we will look at where the PILI experience led two of our Alumni. In our Pro Bono Spotlight, we will visit a recent PILI nominee and recipient of the Illinois State Bar Association's John C. McAndrews Pro Bono Service Award. Then, you can get to know a PILI Board Member who recently received the Jerold S. Solovy Equal Justice Award from LAF.

We also invite you to keep up with the latest PILI news on our website or check us out on social media on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter!

As always, thank you for your involvement with PILI and for your support.

Yours truly,

The Staff of the Public Interest Law Initiative

PILI Alumni Spotlight: Collen Bisher-Fry, 2009 Intern

"I knew that I wanted to do trials, but my nerves would get the best of me just thinking about it! Interning at CGLA was my first opportunity to be in court, standing before the bench, asking for dates and arguing motions."

PILI Alumni Spotlight: Cara Hendrickson, 2001 Fellow

"PILI is a very good model for cooperation between the private bar and the public interest, and I've drawn on that model in the rest of my career."

the  community where you live and work, and to respect our neighbors, regardless of their income level."

Board Member Spotlight: Dan Lindsey

"In the end, it's all about the clients. They're the ones who inspire us. They're the ones whose fights we join."
