Award nominations are now open for PILI’s annual awards and for Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee awards.
The national celebration of Pro Bono Week is intended to inspire even greater pro bono participation by lawyers across the county. PILI hosts multiple events each year as part of the celebration.
In celebration of Law Day, PILI hosted several Legal Answers Pro Bono Clinics to train lawyers on how to answer civil legal questions posted on Illinois Legal Aid Online’s Legal Answers website.
Pro Bono Week 2018 was October 21st to October 27th this year and PILI celebrated with 11 events, 400 attendees, over a dozen awards and several pro bono opportunities!
PILI recently received grants from the Retirement Research Foundation and the DuPage Bar Foundation for which we are extremely grateful.
On August 9th, the Fifth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee co-sponsored a Free Legal Answers volunteer program at Tapella & Eberspacher in Charleston.
During this half-day event co-sponsored by PILI’s Eleventh Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee, 22 volunteers served 47 clients. This is the largest number of clients served at the Legal Advice Fair to date.
Attorneys and gathered at Deere & Company in the morning and at Quad City Bank & Trust in the afternoon to answer legal questions on Illinois Legal Aid Online’s Legal Answers website.
Pilot is important first step to filling justice gap for low-income people with legal needs.
Twenty-one attorneys attended this complimentary program to learn more about these family law issues. They were all encouraged to take on one additional pro bono matter in the coming year.
