Thank You to Foundations for Supporting PILI

PILI has recently received renewed funding from several funders. These funders included the Lawyers Trust Fund, Francis Beidler Foundation, Illinois Equal Justice Foundation and RRF Foundation for Aging. We are so grateful for their continued support of PILI’s mission to engage, inspire and empower those advancing equal access to justice.

The Lawyers Trust Fund (LTF) granted PILI $90,000 to support for PILI’s  Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committees. PILI’s Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committees strive to increase equal access to justice by promoting and enhancing pro bono legal services within a specific circuit. We currently have nine Committees throughout the state that are working to help people in need.

The Francis Beidler Foundation granted PILI $13,000 to support general operating expenses as well as to fund the Alfred C. Tisdahl Memorial Internship. This is in addition to the $19,000 the Foundation granted in support of general operations in June. A longtime supporter of PILI, the Francis Beidler Foundation funds the Alfred C. Tisdahl Memorial Internship to honor the memory of prominent Chicago litigator Alfred C. Tisdahl, who died in 2000.

Illinois Equal Justice Foundation (IEJF) granted$15,000 to support PILI’s efforts providing self-help legal assistance through several projects across the state, including Self-Represented Litigant Help Desks in the Third, Sixth and Tenth Judicial Circuits and Illinois Free Legal Answers.

The RRF Foundation for Aging has awarded PILI a grant that will fund a Summer 2021 Law Student Intern. RFF’s mission is to improve the quality of life for older people in America, and  RRF is one of the first private foundations devoted exclusively to aging and retirement issues. The RRF Intern will work at the Center for Disability & Elder Law this summer.
