On January 1st, an Illinois law went into effect preventing housing discrimination based on an individual’s participation in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program. Source of income is now a protected characteristic under the Illinois Human Rights Act.
