2020 Third Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Service Award Recipient
Deborah Crouse Cobb is the adoption guru in Madison County. In addition to helping any
lawyer who asks her, she also volunteers to be the GAL in pro se adoptions and assists litigants with all the necessary paperwork. She also helps organize the Madison County Circuit Court National Adoption Day. In 2017 and 2018, Madison County’s National Adoption Day was the largest event in the state of Illinois and second largest in the nation with 45 children being adopted each year on that day.
Deborah has volunteered many hours as either a GAL in adoption cases or helping attorneys who are new to adoptions complete their cases. She has never turned down anyone who asks for help with adoptions, including judges. She makes pro bono work a priority.
Deborah is a senior partner at her law firm Crouse Cobb & Bays, which has been devoted to adoption and assisted reproduction since 1986. The firm strives to be an active part of the community in Southern Illinois.
