Self-Represented Litigant Simulation for PILI Leadership

This program was offered in November 2025 for members of PILI’s Board of Directors, Young Professionals Board and Alumni Network Leadership Council and we are offering again for those who were not able to participate in the first session.

This interactive session will challenge problem solving abilities and simulate the experiences a self-represented litigant (SRL) may have when trying to navigate their court case while balancing economic hardships. Participants will identify challenges faced by low-income litigants in their daily lives. They will also discuss the importance of procedural fairness and how interactions can affect people and their outcomes.

Attendees will receive 1.5 hours of Illinois MCLE DE&I Credit pending approval. The last half hour will be set aside for informal networking among attendees.

So that we don’t keep sending you emails reminding you of this program, we ask that you RSVP whether or not you will be attending. Please note that given that nature of this exercise, it will be important that you arrive ahead of the start time as we will start promptly at 4:30 and it will not be possible to involve late arrivals once the simulation has begun.
