Spring Intern Seminar: Engaging with Your Community

PILI organizes an educational seminar each semester for school-year PILI Interns that focuses on substantive legal topics, career development strategies or skill building relevant to public interest law. Attendance counts towards your 200 hour requirement.

Engaging with Your Community

For new lawyers, there are all sorts of ways to meaningfully engage and connect with their community. Whether it is serving on nonprofit boards, young professional organizations, or bar associations, learn about the opportunities available to you as a young lawyer. You’ll hear from lawyers involved in these organizations and how they manage to balance the demands of work with staying involved.

Speakers:

  • Justin Sia, Senior Counsel at TransUnion, LAGBAC Foundation
  • Natanya Pope-Sohel, Staff Attorney at the Illinois Torture and Relief Commission, Black Woman Lawyers Association
  • Madeline Townsend, Assistant Public Defender, Director at National Lawyers Guild Chicago
