Spring Intern Seminar: Access to Justice in Illinois

PILI organizes an educational seminar each semester for school-year PILI Interns that focuses on substantive legal topics, career development strategies or skill building relevant to public interest law. Attendance counts towards your 200 hour requirement.

Access to Justice in Illinois

Every year, thousands in Illinois seek assistance through legal aid organizations across the state. However, access to that assistance, and the processes for receiving it, can differ widely depending on factors such as location, income, and identity. Hear from legal aid experts about efforts to expand access to justice and the challenges they face.

Speakers:

  • Marisa Wiesman, Deputy Director, Access to Justice Division of the Illinois Supreme Court
  • Professor Eric Sirota, Associate Clinical Professor of Law, Northwestern Pritzker School of Law
  • Kimberly Thielbar, Director of Pro Bono Services, Prairie State Legal Services
