Are you in need of free legal help to expunge or seal your criminal record? Clients can register at this site »
The DuPage Expungement Clinic will provide free legal assistance to individuals seeking to clear their criminal record. Both attorney and non-attorney volunteers are needed! Attorney volunteers will consult with participants on available options for relief, prepare petitions to expunge and/or seal eligible records, and provide guidance on navigating the process from start to finish. Non-attorney volunteers are also needed to help support clinic operations. Volunteers can sign up for a 8:30am – 12:00pm shift, a 12:00pm-3:00pm shift, or both. Lunch will be provided for volunteers. Please register by July 3, 2023.
PILI is pleased to partner with the Clerk of the Circuit Court of DuPage County, Prairie State Legal Services, the DuPage County Bar Association, and DuPage Legal Aid on this event. The generous support provided through the Illinois Access to Justice grant program makes PILI and Prairie State’s participation possible.
Please note:
- Volunteer lawyers are required to attend a training session in order to volunteer, unless they handle expungement matters on a regular basis in their practice unless you have attended a similar training session recently. Even in that case, you will need to review the procedures for the day of the clinic. The training will take place on July 11, 2023 from noon-2 PM at the DuPage Judicial Center Attorney Resource Center. Lunch will be provided by the DuPage County Bar Association.
- A training for non-attorney volunteers will take place virtually. You will receive the link to the training after you register and a recording will be available. The duties and logistics for the event will be discussed in more detail.
