Celebrate Pro Bono Week with PILI by joining us for a demonstration of how to use the Illinois Free Legal Answers site and answer 1-2 questions for those in need through this discrete pro bono opportunity at this virtual legal clinic hosted by PILI’s Alumni Network Leadership Council and Young Professionals Board. After we answer questions, stay for an informal reception.
What is Free Legal Answers? Free Legal Answers is a secure website (IL.freelegalanswers.org) where lower income Illinois residents can ask a lawyer for help with a legal issue. Qualified users post questions about civil legal problems. Volunteer lawyers then log onto the site and select questions to answer. It’s like a virtual walk-in legal clinic.
After answering questions, stay to network with your fellow volunteers with refreshments.
0.5 hour General CLE credit is expected upon approval.
This program is hosted by PILI’s Alumni Network Leadership Council and Young Professionals Board and is open to all attorneys.
How the Legal Answers Clinic will work:
- Before the event, volunteers register with IL.freelegalanswers.org. No software needed.
- At the clinic, volunteers will be trained on how to answer Legal Answers questions.
- Lawyers will answer as many questions as they are able at the event and then will be able to answer many more whenever they want.
Advance registration is required. If you have any questions or problems with registration, please email Artie Surratt or call 312-832-5130.
