PILI’s Legal Help Within Reach project through the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee, Prairie State Legal Services and Project Now will be holding an Expungement Clinic that will provide free legal assistance to individuals living in Henry, Mercer, Rock Island and Whiteside Counties seeking to clear their criminal records. Volunteers will consult with participants on available options for relief, prepare petitions to expunge and/or seal eligible records, and provide guidance on navigating the process from start to finish. There are two volunteer shifts available. The Expungement Clinic will take place in person on June 6, 2022 from 2:00 to 7:00 PM at the Moline Public Library.
Volunteer lawyers are required to attend a training session in order to volunteer, unless they handle expungement matters on a regular basis in their practice, or have attended a similar training session recently. Volunteer lawyers are invited to attend a virtual training session on May 24th at from 12:00 to 1:30 PM. The training was recorded for those who cannot attend the live version and you can find it here. Attendees will receive 1.5 hours of MCLE credit.
If you would like to attend the training and provide assistance through this clinic, please fill out this form to volunteer and attend the training by May 20th. If you have questions about the clinic or training session, please contact PILI Managing Attorney Jessica Schneider by email or by phone at 312-832-5125.
