Every year, PILI holds several Pro Bono Forums and Roundtables to bring together pro bono leaders from law firms, corporations, legal service agencies and law schools to discuss timely pro bono issues, challenges and best practices and develop strategies to expand and enhance pro bono in Illinois.

On October 3, 2017, PILI held its Illinois Forum on Pro Bono at The Chicago Bar Association with over 70 people in attendance. In early 2017, the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Access to Justice—in partnership with the Chicago Bar Foundation, the Illinois Bar Foundation, and the Public Interest Law Initiative—released a statewide survey to hear directly from attorneys about their experiences with pro bono.
They discussed successful programs and the impact of recent events on law schools and their students.
PILI’s Fifth and Sixth Judicial Pro Bono Committees and Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation provided a complimentary CLEs on “Hot Topics in Family Law” in June and July.
During this program, speakers explored the basics for pursuing an adult guardianship and for serving as a guardian ad litem.
