PILI has established several new working groups to advance its efforts through its eleven Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committees around the state.
Heading into 2022, PILI is asking our network and supporters to take the initiative to expand free legal services in Illinois for those in need. As part of our 45th anniversary celebration, we will be following our founder’s footsteps to engage, inspire and empower those advancing equal access to justice in the new year.
The Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) is excited to announce additional funding for its Law Student Internship Program made possible by the Lawyers Trust Fund of Illinois. This funding is given in honor of former Illinois Supreme Court Justice Thomas Kilbride to fund four additional Interns during the summers of 2022 through 2026.
The Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) is proud to announce Vanessa Weathersby as the newest Alumni Class Representative. She will serve as the Intern Representative for the 1986-1990 Class, succeeding Charles Wintersteen in the role.
On December 10th, during the Illinois Judges Association (IJA) Annual Awards & 50th Anniversary Celebration, PILI received the IJA’s Amicus Award.
As part of the campaign, we asked PILI staff and YPB members, “How are you advancing access to justice?”. You can watch their responses below.
Earlier this year, PILI received a significant donation from a former member of its Board of Directors in honor of one of PILI’s founders, Thomas Nicholson, and to establish an endowment fund to sustain and grow PILI’s Pro Bono Program.
