The TransLegal program provides direct legal services to transgender and gender expansive individuals and is part of the TransLife Care Program, which provides comprehensive programming and support to people in those communities. PILLI Interns will work in the areas of employment law, public benefits appeals, criminal records, public accommodations discrimination, misdemeanor criminal defense and legal name changes as well as public policy advocacy. This position will be a combination of working directly with clients, with a possibility of client representation in court for students with a 7-11 license, and legal research. All legal positions work remotely, including the PILI intern.
This position is a good fit for a creative thinker who likes learning new things. Strong research and writing skills are a must. Prior work on behalf of the transgender community is a plus, and some experience working with historically marginalized communities (in a professional or volunteer capacity) is strongly preferred.
This agency is approved to host a Law Student Intern in the summer.
