Asian Americans Advancing Justice—Chicago (“Advancing Justice—Chicago”) is a pan-Asian, non-partisan, non-profit organization located in Chicago, Illinois, whose mission is to build power through collective advocacy and organizing to achieve racial equity. Advancing Justice—Chicago is part of a national affiliation with affiliates in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C. Advancing Justice—Chicago’s programs include legal and policy advocacy, community organizing, and leadership development.
The PILI Fellow will be engaging in groundbreaking work on a range of issues, under the supervision of Advancing Justice—Chicago’s legal director. The PILI Fellow will assist Advancing Justice—Chicago with researching and implementing civil rights initiatives in the areas of language access, immigrant integration, and voting rights. Depending on capacity and interest, the PILI Fellow may assist Advancing Justice—Chicago in educating community members on key policy issues impacting the community, such as local, state, and federal immigration policies, access to voting and progressive reforms to our democracy, and access to other government services for limited English community members. During his or her time with Advancing Justice—Chicago, the PILI Fellow will become an integral part of Advancing Justice—Chicago’s staff and will be immersed in a range of agency matters, community events, and training opportunities.
The PILI Fellow would work in Advancing Justice—Chicago’s office in the Uptown neighborhood, which is easily accessible by public transportation, with the option to work remotely on an occasional basis.
