Interns work 400 hours full-time during the summer with PILI ensuring quality supervision by experienced attorneys and providing extra educational, networking and advising opportunities. Typically, Interns are paid $6,000 for their work during the summer, less applicable taxes.
PILI summer Internships are open to law students from any ABA accredited law school in the United States. There are 28 public interest law agencies approved to host PILI Interns, and you can apply to up to 10 of them.
PILI Interns work on a wide and diverse range of issues depending on the agency where they serve and the issues that agency addresses. In addition to direct client services, PILI Interns also do policy development and analysis, advocacy, impact litigation, and more. PILI ensures quality supervision by experienced attorneys and provides extra educational, networking and advising opportunities.
Application period and process:
- 2LS: The application period will open for second-year law students at 10:00 a.m. on October 15th.
- 1Ls: The application period will open for first-year law students at 10:00 a.m. on December 1st.
