Join us to learn how to use Illinois Free Legal Answers site and answer 1-2 questions for those in need through this discrete pro bono opportunity at this virtual legal clinic hosted by PILI’s Alumni Network Ledership Council and Young Professionals Board.
What is Legal Answers? Legal Answers is a secure website (IL.freelegalanswers.org) where lower income Illinois residents can ask a lawyer for help with a legal issue. Qualified users post questions about civil legal problems. Volunteer lawyers then log onto the site and select questions to answer. It’s like a virtual walk-in legal clinic.
After answering questions there will be a complimentary networking reception with drinks and light appetizers for all participants.
This program is hosted by PILI’s Alumni Network Leadership Council and Young Professionals Board and is open to all local attorneys. Chicago Volunteer Legal Services is co-hosting this event and we will have attorneys on site to help volunteers answer their questions.
How the Legal Answers Clinic will work:
- Before the event, volunteers register with IL.freelegalanswers.org.
- At the event, volunteers will be trained on how to answer Legal Answers questions.
- Lawyers will answer as many questions as they are able at the event and then will be able to answer many more whenever they want.
- After answering questions, enjoy a networking reception with drinks and light appetizers for all participants.
Please bring a laptop or tablet on which you can access the internet. You will not need to download any software and Wi-Fi will be provided.
In addition to registering through PILI for the event below, please also set up an account in advance with IL.freelegalanswers.org.
Advance registration is required by Wednesday, October 23rd. If you have any questions or problems with registration, please email PILI or call us at 312-832-5127.
