The DuPage Expungement Clinic will provide free legal assistance to individuals seeking to clear their criminal record. Volunteers will consult with participants on available options for relief, prepare petitions to expunge and/or seal eligible records, and provide guidance on navigating the process from start to finish.
If you would like to receive legal help expunging your criminal record, please fill out the pre-registration form here by March 7th.
Opportunities are available for lawyers, law students and other legal professionals to volunteer at the clinic and to help with cases after. There will be 2-hour volunteer shifts at the clinic starting at 8:30, 10:30 and 12:30. In order to help the most possible clients, we ask that you sign up for as many shifts as you are able.
Lawyers are required to attend the training session in order to volunteer, unless they handle expungement matters on a regular basis in their practice, or have attended a similar training session since January 2018. If you have questions about this requirement or wish to volunteer but cannot attend the training, please contact Michael Bergmann by email. Other volunteers are welcome to attend trainings, but are not required.
This event is co-sponsored by the DuPage County Bar Association, PILI’s Eighteenth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee and Prairie State Legal Services*.
