2016 Pro Bono Recognition RosterCongratulations to the law firms and corporations named to PILI’s 2016 Pro Bono Recognition Roster, which was announced at our Annual Pro Bono Reception on June 15, 2016. The 2016 Pro Bono Recognition Roster honored the 46 law firms and corporations whose impressive pro bono contributions are making a difference in Illinois for those who need it most.

PILI will be seeking law firms and corporations for inclusion on its 2017 Pro Bono Recognition Roster beginning in March 2017.

Criteria for inclusion on PILI’s 2017 Pro Bono Recognition Roster:

Law firms, corporations and legal industry corporate partners must meet at least two of the necessary criteria based on pro bono services rendered by their Illinois offices in 2016, or the most recently closed fiscal year.

Law Firms:

  • An average of 35 pro bono hours per legal professional in Illinois per year; and/or
  • A 5% increase in Illinois office(s) pro bono hours from the previous year; and/or
  • 60% or more of the firm’s Illinois attorneys participate in pro bono work; and/or
  • Participation in The Chicago Bar Foundation’s Law Firm Leadership Circle, or one of PILI’s Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee Pro Bono Pledges; and/or
  • Innovative steps to involve more Illinois office(s) legal department staff in pro bono work or to expand the law firm’s pro bono program.

Corporate Legal Departments:

  • Participation by at least 10% of Illinois office(s) legal department staff in pro bono work; and/or
  • A 5% increase in Illinois office(s) pro bono hours from the previous year; and/or
  • Participation in The Chicago Bar Foundation’s Corporate Leadership Circle, or one of PILI’s Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee Pro Bono Pledges; and/or
  • Innovative steps to involve more Illinois office(s) legal department staff in pro bono work or to expand the corporation’s pro bono program.

Legal Industry Corporate Partners:

  • Providing your company’s services or resources on a pro bono basis to a significant degree in relation to your overall business; and/or
  • Providing funding of a significant degree in relation to your overall business to support nonprofit organizations that provide legal services to underrepresented or low-income people; and/or
  • Participation in The Chicago Bar Foundation’s Partner Leadership Circle; and/or
  • Innovative steps to provide support and assistance for the benefit of the low-income or underrepresented populations and/or nonprofit organizations serving that population in Illinois.
