PILI’s Alumni Network hosts this community-based legal clinic at Legal Prep Charter Academies in the Garfield Park neighborhood on the third Tuesday of every month in conjunction with Legal Prep Charter Academies and Chicago Volunteer Legal Services (CVLS).
About the Legal Prep Community Law Clinic
Through this community-based clinic established in 2014, PILI Alumni can help families of Garfield Park and Legal Prep students address critical legal needs. With the support of CVLS staff, PILI Alumni volunteers provide pro bono services on all civil, non-fee generating, non-class action cases. Types of cases might include eviction, consumer debt, foreclosure, adult or child guardianship, and more.
As the clinic administrator, CVLS has extensive resources to help PILI Alumni volunteers get started quickly and develop deeper skills through continued use. CVLS will provide volunteers with trainings, forms, malpractice coverage, and ongoing volunteer support.

About Legal Prep Charter Academies
Legal Prep Charter Academies is a free, legal-themed, college prep, charter high school in West Garfield Park that opened its doors in the fall of 2012. Their mission is to prepare Chicago’s youth to succeed in college and in life. Legal Prep is Chicago’s first and only legal–themed high school, with a focus on the skills that all great lawyers possess: excellent written and oral communication, critical thinking, problem solving, and advocacy. Legal Prep staff, students, and families work together to put every student on the path to college success.
