The Domestic Violence Legal Clinic (DVLC) provides free legal representation and advice for victims of domestic violence. We use our location at the Cook County Domestic Violence Courthouse (555 West Harrison, Chicago) to provide same-day services for people who need Orders of Protection. We conduct intake interviews, give advice and referrals, and represent clients in Order of Protection hearings . DVLC attorneys continue to represent our clients for the duration of their case. DVLC also provides comprehensive family law services and partners with the Domestic Violence Division in the DV Pro Bono Project, a volunteer effort aimed at large firm and corporate attorneys.
PILI Fellows are an integral part of our agency during the busy summer months. Their duties include conducting client intake, preparing court documents, and performing legal research. Once they receive their 711 License, Fellows may act as counsel in court under the supervision of a supervising attorney.
This agency is approved to host a summer Law Student Intern and Graduate Fellows.
